COVID-19 Community Updates will now occur once a month

May 4, 2021 – News

Members of the City and Borough of Juneau’s Emergency Operations Center have been presenting weekly updates on the status of COVID-19 in Juneau since last August. Starting today, May 4, COVID-19 Community Updates will occur once a month – the first Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. – or on an as-needed basis.

“The community is doing well with getting vaccinated and following appropriate mitigation measures, like wearing masks when in public, getting tested when symptomatic, and continuing to practice social distancing. As a result, our case positivity rate continues to be in the minimal area and the urgency to communicate on a frequent basis is diminishing. We want to keep our messaging fresh and relevant. A longer period of time between Community Updates will allow for that,” Emergency Operations Center Incident Commander and Deputy City Manager Mila Cosgrove said.

Aside from these now monthly updates, community members can always find COVID-19 information relevant to Juneau on CBJ’s COVID-19 website, CBJ’s COVID-19 Dashboard, CBJ’s Risk Metrics & Mitigation Strategies, and in Emergency Operations Center updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The public can also email [email protected] with any questions related to COVID-19, or call 586-6000.

There are three ways to join today’s COVID-19 Community Update, which will feature Public Health Nurse Alison Gottschlich:

The public is encouraged submit questions during the event by typing the question into the Q&A box on Zoom (questions will not be taken through Facebook).

All COVID-19 community updates are recorded and available on vimeo.com/cbjuneau to watch anytime.
