Community partnership makes additional COVID-19 vaccines available in Juneau

A new partnership between the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), Juneau Public Health, and the City and Borough of Juneau is making it possible for additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be available to Juneau residents at the upcoming clinic on March 12 and 13 at Centennial Hall.

“At SEARHC, we strive to serve the Southeast region and fulfill our mission of Alaska Native People working in partnership to provide the best healthcare for our communities. This collaboration illustrates this effort. By joining forces, the partnership will secure additional doses beyond the amounts otherwise available,” SEARHC Vice President of Clinics Eric Gettis said.

CBJ thanks SEARHC for its willingness to partner in expanding the availability of the vaccine to Juneau residents: “SEARHC has done an impressive job at quickly distributing vaccine throughout Southeast Alaska. We’re thrilled SEARHC is joining the partnership that makes the mass vaccination clinics in Juneau possible. In addition to more vaccine, SEARHC brings a wealth of medical expertise and experience to this work,” CBJ Emergency Operations Center Planning Section Chief Robert Barr said.

The partnership enables the organizations to leverage their access to the vaccine and ensure that a larger portion of eligible groups get the vaccine at the next clinic. Eligible groups, as determined by the State of Alaska, include people aged 65 years or above, pre K-12 and child care education staff, people 50 years and above with a high-risk medical condition, people 50 years and above working as a frontline essential worker, and people living or working in congregate settings.

Ample vaccine supplies remain available for SEARHC patients. Alaska Native Beneficiaries and their families are encouraged to register for their vaccines at covid19.searhc.org.

The upcoming March 12-13 clinic is organized by Bartlett Regional Hospital, Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska, Juneau Public Health Center, SEARHC, and City and Borough of Juneau.
