Application period closes early for COVID-19 Individual Assistance program

December 15, 2020 – News

The City and Borough of Juneau’s COVID-19 Individual Assistance Grant Program is closed to new applicants until further notice due to the anticipation of exhausting all available funds. Program administrator Catholic Community Service stopped accepting applications as of 4:45 p.m. December 14.

The Juneau Assembly appropriated $2 million of federal CARES Act funding to help qualifying individuals pay for basic needs like food, healthcare, transportation, utilities, and housing. The program opened December 8 on a first come, first served basis.

CCS received about 1,800 applications within the first six days and staff members are currently processing applications. Applicants will be notified of eligibility by email.

CBJ’s COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program, also administered by CCS, closed on December 12, as scheduled. CCS has already authorized $2 million in grants – of the available $3 million – and is still processing applications. Applicants are being notified of eligibility by email.
