Temperatures rose again yesterday during the day with Eaglecrest staying above freezing at the summit and Mt Roberts seeing +3c for most of the day.

During the warm period over the last 2 days our snowpack has settled nearly 15cm which should help long term to add strength into the snowpack.

The precip picked up after 8pm last night depositing 12mm of precip in 12 hours. The temperatures cooled off during this trend. This cooling left about4cm of new snow at the Mt Roberts Tram Summit. We can assume eaglecrest is seeing additional volumes at the higher elevations... as are the urban avalanche paths above the tram summit elevations.

Eaglecrest is showing 7cm at mid mountain elevations.

Winds picked up during this new snow event showing from 10-35 with gusts to 30. Be aware this could have created a little bit of windloading on lee slopes this morning.

The forecast calls for lowering freezing levels. Precip models show as much as .6\" of precip in the next 24 hours.

With a great deal of settlement in the snowpack over the last few days at above freezing temperatures, and the now below freezing cooler temps in place and very little precip in the forecast avalanche danger is LOW at this time.

With continued precip avalanche danger will start to slowly rise. The primary concern will be windloading with this new snow as it adds up over time.

Be safe out there and have a great day!

Tip:

This weekend we have some great training opportunities coming up at Eaglecrest which are all free.

Saturday there is a FREE Avalanche Awareness Course that included Stability Evaluations and Companion Rescue Skills Training from 9-330 pm. To Register contact [email protected].

On Sunday there is a free rescue skills clinic and refresher on how to use your Avalanche Beacon and Probe. This offering goes from 1-3pm. Please meet outside the Ski Patrol Room at the base area.
