JUNEAU COMMISSION ON AGING
AGE-FRIENDLY PLANNING
AGE-FRIENDLY PLANNING
In 2023, JCOA invited the CBJ Juneau Assembly to join the AARP Age-Friendly States and Communities Network. Mayor Beth Weldon led the Assembly in engaging with this worthwhile opportunity. This national effort promotes neighborhood cohesion and maximizes opportunities for residents to be active and engaged with their neighbors, family, and friends. In an Age-Friendly Community, all residents meet their essential needs in a safe, healthy environment. The initiatives contribute to improved economic performance and a more vibrant, desirable, and competitive environment for housing and commercial investment. This creates a positive feedback loop for competitive housing and commercial investments. Age-Friendly initiatives bring public and private entities together to invest in and work on programs and projects, making the community a better place for people of all ages.
AGING! SO COOL, EVERYONE IS DOING IT!
