Snow removal in the Starr Hill neighborhood happening Friday, Jan. 14, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The City and Borough of Juneau Streets Maintenance Division will be removing snow from the Starr Hill neighborhood in Downtown Juneau on Friday, January 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To accommodate the equipment, CBJ requests that residents clear cars from upper 6th Street, Kennedy, Park, and Nelson Streets ahead of the scheduled start time. Cars left in place will impact operations and may force CBJ to leave bermed snow in place. The intent is to complete as much snow removal as possible, but residents should be aware that significant weather events may require resources to be diverted.

During this snow removal operation, Starr Hill neighborhood residents are welcome to park their vehicles in the parking lot between Centennial Hall and the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council. Vehicles must be removed by Sunday, January 16.

With more precipitation & rising temps, please help keep drains clear

The City and Borough of Juneau Streets Maintenance Division is asking residents to provide assistance with clearing drains on or near their property. With the amount of snow that has fallen, and the forecast for significant additional precipitation and rising temperatures, there is an increase in the risk of flooding due to blocked drains. Any assistance that can be provided in clearing drains would be appreciated.

To find where the storm drain is located in your neighborhood, visit CBJ’s parcel viewer by clicking on this link: http://epv.ci.juneau.ak.us/cbj_js_viewers/EPV/app/. Under “Departments” click the layer labeled “Streets,” then click the “Storm Drain” layer.
