Winter Pass offers five months of unlimited access to Juneau Pools & Treadwell Arena

The City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Winter Pass allows an individual unlimited use of the Dimond Park Aquatic Center, Augustus Brown Pool, and Treadwell Arena for five months throughout the winter and spring. The pass can be used January 2, 2020 through May 31, 2020.

Unlimited use applies to Treadwell Arena-sponsored activities, skate rentals, Juneau Pools open swims, workout equipment, hot tub, sauna, and drop-in classes. The pass does not apply to swim lessons or activities through outside organizations.

The all-ages Winter Pass costs $150 and is on sale now from the Parks & Recreation main office in City Hall. Online sales start December 26. The pass is valid January 2, 2020 through May 31, 2020. Please note Treadwell Arena closes April 26, 2020.

Speed Skating Clinic, Turkey Bowling & Free Santa Skate at Treadwell Arena

Mark your calendars for these events coming up at Treadwell Arena:

For the first time, Treadwell Arena is offering a Speed Skating Clinic for ages 10 to adult. Speed skating enthusiast Michael Keye-Schuler will be instructing three short-track clinics on Sunday, November 24 (10:30-11:30 a.m.); Saturday, November 30 (1-2 p.m.); and Sunday, December 1 (10:30-11:30 a.m.) All abilities are welcome. Each clinic is $15 or $35 for all three; short track speed skates are included. Register as space is limited.

Treadwell Arena is holding the family-friendly 14th Annual Turkey Bowling event on Wednesday, November 27 at 7:45-9:15 p.m. The goal is to knock down as many pins as possible using a frozen turkey on ice. Winners take home a turkey. Please note that regular admission rates apply.

And join Santa on ice during the Free Skate session Friday, November 29 at 7:45-9 p.m. at Treadwell Arena. Skate rental is included. The event is sponsored by the Douglas 4th of July Committee.

Treadwell’s new center line features Northwest Coast formline

Your first chance to see Treadwell Arena’s new center line is during the Treadwell Arena Season Opener Free Open Skate on Monday, August 5, 3:30-5 pm.

The new center line is a collaboration between Treadwell Arena, Sealaska Heritage Institute, Tsimshian artist Abel Ryan, Zach Gordon Youth Center’s BAM After-School Program, and Parks & Recreation.

Treadwell Arena needs a concession vendor. Submit a proposal by April 4.

The City and Borough of Juneau is looking for a qualified vendor to run the concession area at Treadwell Arena. The vendor would provide prepackaged food, hot drinks, and snack items on a seasonal basis from August to April.

A non-mandatory, but recommended, pre-proposal meeting and site visit will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Treadwell Arena, 105 Savikko Road in Douglas. The site visit will be an opportunity for interested vendors to view the approximately 10 ft. by 12 ft. concession area. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend the meeting and to email questions in advance of the meeting.
