Join Docks & Harbors for Marine Park Deckover Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony May 15

The City & Borough of Juneau Docks and Harbors will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, May 15, to celebrate the successful completion of the Marine Park Deckover Project. The ceremony will take place 12 p.m. at the south end of Marine Park. The public is cordially invited to attend.

The Marine Deckover Project extends the existing Seawalk into Marine Park via an ADA accessible dock structure, thereby lengthening  the contiguous waterfront from Merchant’s Wharf to Franklin Dock.  The general contractor for the project is Trucano Construction and the Engineer-of-Record is PND Engineers.

Enjoy Outdoor Fun and Share Ideas for Marine Park at Public Events on April 27

The City and Borough of Juneau, together with consultants Coffman Engineers and J.A. Brennan Associates, will host two events on Thursday, April 27, to gather public feedback on the future of Marine Park and capture the community’s vision for the cornerstone of Juneau’s waterfront.

Juneau residents of all ages are invited to Marine Park from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. for family-friendly outdoor fun including games, sidewalk chalk, and a fire pit. CBJ and consultants will be available to talk about the park and hear ideas for improvements in a relaxed and informal setting.

The casual gathering will be followed by a formal public meeting at the Baranof Hotel from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will include a presentation on the Marine Park project and offer the opportunity for more in-depth questions and public comment.

Feedback gathered at both events will be to develop a Marine Park Master Plan to guide the park’s long-term future and help direct upcoming renovations.

Following the development of this plan, a design for proposed improvements is scheduled to be completed this fall. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2024. For the latest project information, visit the Marine Park Improvements project page.

Take this quick survey to have your say in the future of Marine Park

From December 16 through January 10 the City and Borough of Juneau is conducting a short online survey about what the community wants to see from Marine Park. All Juneau residents, no matter how frequently they use the park, are encouraged to respond.

CBJ Parks and Recreation, together with CBJ Docks and Harbors, is in the process of planning upcoming renovations to Marine Park. The results of this survey will help direct renovations so that the park meets the needs of Juneau residents.

The short survey takes less than 2 minutes to complete and includes questions on how you use Marine Park and what you’d like to see and do there in the future. You’ll also have the option to share ideas you have for how to enhance the Park. Remember, the more input CBJ receives, the better the park will be able to serve the Juneau community.

Visit bit.ly/MarineParkSurvey to take the survey, or share the link with friends and neighbors. The survey is open until 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 10.
