  • No cases were associated with a cluster.
  • Public Health attributed 46 percent of cases to secondary transmission, 31 percent to out-of-state travel, eight percent to community spread, and 15 percent of the cases remain under investigation.
  • 100 percent of cases were contacted for contact tracing within 24 hours of a positive test being returned.
  • There is case positivity spread across various age groups, racial groups, and more cases in females than males (61.5 percent/38.5 percent).

Make sure your kid is fully vaxxed against COVID-19 before school starts Aug. 16

The first day of the Juneau School District’s 2021-2022 school year is August 16 – and kids and teachers will be going back to full-time, in-person classes. Juneau has done a great job at keeping COVID-19 at bay, but the community continues to experience case activity. The best way to protect your child from COVID-19 is to get them vaccinated, and getting vaccinated also helps protect those who can’t yet be vaccinated. Find vaccine availability at juneau.org/vaccine, or call 586-6000.

The Pfizer vaccine is approved for anyone ages 12 or older, and it is safe and highly effective. While most children with COVID experience mild symptoms, some do develop serious side effects.

It takes a minimum of five weeks from when you get your first dose of the Pfizer vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated, which is defined as two weeks after you get the second dose. That means your child will need their first dose of a Pfizer vaccine by July 12 in order for them to be fully vaccinated before the first day of school.

Again, go to juneau.org/vaccine or call 586-6000 to find vaccine availability.
