23 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 23 new individuals in the Juneau community – 20 residents and three nonresidents – identified with COVID-19 for September 3. There are currently four people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District reports three individuals who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and were infectious while in school:

  • One at Harborview Elementary (no additional classes quarantined)
  • Two at Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé (all classes operating on regular schedules)

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 592 new people identified with COVID-19 – 579 are residents and 13 are nonresidents. Alaska has had 86,598 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 4,044 nonresidents.

Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, CBJ will issue the next case count update on Tuesday, September 7.

COVID-19 Community Update Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m.

Juneau School District Superintendent Bridget Weiss will join members of the City and Borough of Juneau’s Emergency Operations Center to give the latest updates on COVID-19 in Juneau during an update Tuesday, September 7 and 4 p.m. EOC staff will give a short presentation and be available to answer questions from the community submitted during the live update or ahead of time.

There are three ways to join the Tuesday, September 7 update:

33 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 33 new individuals in the Juneau community – 31 residents and two nonresidents – identified with COVID-19 for September 2. There are currently five people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

  • One at Sayéik: Gastineau (one classroom quarantined)

32 new COVID-19 cases reported for Juneau

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 32 new individuals in the Juneau community – 28 residents and four nonresidents – identified with COVID-19 for September 1. Two of the nonresidents are here for tourism, and two are under investigation. There are currently three people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

The Juneau School District reports two individuals who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 and were infectious while in school – one at Montessori Borealis (one classroom quarantined) and one at Thunder Mountain High School (case is under investigation). Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 801 new people identified with COVID-19 – 765 are residents and 36 are nonresidents. The state is also reporting four deaths – a male Anchorage resident in his 80, a female Bethel Census Area resident in her 40s, a male Anchorage resident in his 70s, and a male Anchorage resident in his 40s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 435. Alaska has had 85,358 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 3,987 nonresidents.
