CBJ Ballot Processing Center

ELECTION DAY, OCTOBER 4, 2022 – PRELIMINARY UNOFFICIAL RESULTS POSTED

Today, October 4, 2022, is Election Day for the CBJ Regular Municipal Election which is being conducted as a By-Mail/hybrid election. Voters were mailed ballots on September 13 and Ballot Drop Boxes and Vote Centers have been accepting ballots since September 19.

All the ballots that have been received through Saturday, October 1 have undergone their initial review and those that were eligible for counting have been scanned and included in today’s preliminary unofficial results. Those results are posted on the CBJ Elections webpage at https://juneau.org/clerk/elections.

The CBJ Elections team will continue to process the ballots cast at the two Vote Centers, dropped off in one of the two Ballot Drop Boxes and mailed via the U.S.P.S. and a secondary set of unofficial preliminary results will be posted online on Friday, October 7, 2022 and again on Friday, October 14.

Part of that review process will include sending out cure letters to voters to ensure any missing information or signature remedies are addressed so those ballots can be approved for counting. Voters are encouraged to respond as soon as they receive a cure letter to make sure their ballot can be counted.

The Canvass Review Board will meet on Monday, October 17 and again on Wednesday, October 19 to review and certify the election. The official/final results will be posted online once the Canvass Review Board and Election Official certify the election on October 19.

Full election details are online at https://juneau.org/clerk/elections. Anyone with questions about this election can call the Ballot Processing Center at 907-586-5278, option 4.

CBJ Election Day 10/4/22 Vote Centers Open 7am-8pm

CBJ Ballot Processing Center

Today, October 4, 2022, is Election Day for the CBJ Regular Municipal Election which is being conducted as a By Mail/hybrid election. Voters were mailed ballots on September 13 and voters who have not yet cast their ballots have a number of options for voting but need to do it TODAY! They can drop off their voted ballots in one of our two drop boxes, located at Douglas Library and the Auke Bay Statter Harbor boat launch parking lot, at one of the two Vote Centers by 8pm tonight, or mail them in (please make sure to get it postmarked if you are mailing it today.)

The polling precincts used for State elections will NOT be open today but voters who need assistance or a replacement ballot can go to one of the two Vote Centers, located at the Mendenhall Valley Library and City Hall. Vote Centers will be open 7am-8pm today. All ballots cast at the Vote Centers are processed as by mail ballots along with all other ballots at the new CBJ Ballot Processing Center.

Drop boxes will stop accepting ballots when they are locked at 8pm. If voters choose to place their ballots in the mail today, we strongly urge voters to take it in person to a USPS location and ask that a legible postmark be placed on the ballot return envelope to ensure we can count it.

Preliminary, unofficial results from ballots that have been processed through Friday, September 30, will be posted online after 8:00p.m. tonight.

Full details are online at https://juneau.org/clerk/elections Anyone with questions about this election can call the Ballot Processing Center at 907-586-5278, option 4.

Just Five Days Left to Vote in October 4 CBJ Regular Municipal Election

With Election Day just around the corner, thousands of Juneau voters have already cast their ballots in this year’s by-mail/hybrid election—and if you haven’t, you still have five days left to vote. Voting in the 2022 CBJ Regular Municipal Election will close at 8 p.m., October 4, 2022, and for the first time, the by-mail election is being conducted entirely within Juneau. At the new CBJ Ballot Processing Center off Thane Road, we have already processed nearly 4,000 ballots to prepare them to be opened for counting beginning on Election Day.

Watch your mailbox for a cure letter
Out of those 4,000 ballots, just over 100 voters have been sent cure letters identifying one or more issues with their ballot envelope that must be addressed before the ballot can be approved for counting. Additional cure letters will be sent out between now and election certification, scheduled for the week of October 17. Please watch your mailboxes for a cure letter and follow the instructions in the letter to ensure your ballot can be counted. Reasons for a cure letter include but are not limited to: a missing or non-matching signature to that on file, a missing or non-matching personal identifier (must be one of the following: date of birth, last 4 digits of SSN, driver’s license number, or voter ID number), or no reference signature on file.

There’s still time to cast your ballot!
Ballots were mailed to all eligible Juneau voters on September 13. If you have not yet returned your ballot, you still have time to cast your vote by Election Day, October 4. There are several options for returning your ballot:

  • Place it in one of the two drop boxes located at the Douglas Library/Fire Hall or the Auke Bay Statter Harbor Parking lot by 8 p.m. on Election Day, October 4
  • Place a stamp on it and mail it by Election Day – please note that the postmaster has advised that anyone mailing ballots be sure to check the pick-up times on the mailbox to ensure the ballot is picked up and processed on or before Election Day
  • Drop it off at one of our two Vote Centers (see below for dates/times/locations)

At the Vote Centers voters can receive voter assistance (including assistance with cure letters), request and vote a replacement ballot (provided they have not already cast a ballot), or drop off voted ballots. Vote Center hours and locations are:

City Hall Assembly Chambers, 155 S. Seward Street
Friday, September 30 and Monday, October 3,  8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
