Parks & Rec thanks community with free Day of Play events Aug. 25
Join City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Department on Saturday, August 25 for the 9th Annual Day of Play, a full day of free events taking place all over Juneau. This is the department’s way of thanking the community for participating in Parks & Rec programs, using its facilities, and being good stewards of CBJ parks. All Day of Play events are free of charge.
Day of Play schedule of events
- 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Capital Park – Gaga Ball and doughnuts from Breeze In
- 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Augustus Brown Swimming Pool – Free swim session *
- 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Juneau-Douglas City Museum – Free admission for a scavenger hunt
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Zach Gordon Youth Center – Sidewalk chalk, Juneau Jumpers, free hot dog lunch, and fun on the climbing wall
- 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Cope Park – Lawn and field games, including kickball, bocce, horseshoes, and learn how to play Pickleball
- 12:30 p.m. – 1:10 p.m. Treadwell Arena – Free skate session *
- 1:30 p.m. – 2:10 p.m. Treadwell Arena – Free skate session *
- 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Riverbend Elementary School – Play basketball with the JDHS Crimson Bears boys basketball team
- 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Douglas Public Library – Learn deep space detective skills & more with NASA at My Library
- 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Dimond Park – Trucks N’ Stuff: Climb in trucks and loaders, check out a helicopter and talk with heavy equipment drivers and first responders
- 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Dimond Park Aquatic Center – Free swim session *
- 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Dimond Park Aquatic Center – Free swim session *
- 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Dimond Park Field House – Open turf & track time
* Arrive 30 mins early to receive a wristband for entry
