Traffic to be affected by Celebration’s Grand Exit on Saturday evening, June 11

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Sealaska Heritage Institute will be hosting the Grand Exit for Celebration 2022. The event will begin at 5:00 PM on Willoughby Avenue between West 3rd Street and Egan Drive. The event will end by 7:30 PM.

Traffic delays should be expected in this area during the parade.

Celebration parade will affect traffic, parking on Saturday, June 11

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Sealaska Heritage Institute will be hosting the Celebration 2022 parade beginning at 10:30 AM on Front Street at Seward Street. The parade will proceed on the following streets:

Front Street to South Franklin Street, South Franklin Street to Marine Way, Marine Way to Egan Drive, Egan Drive to Willoughby Avenue, and end at the entrance to Centennial Hall.

Other streets that will be affected by the parade are as follows: Admiral Way, Ferry Way, Front Street, Franklin Street, Shattuck Street, Seward Street, Main Street, Egan Drive, and Willoughby Avenue. During the parade, these streets will be periodically closed to vehicular traffic, and delays should be expected. The parade will end by 12:30 PM.

Beginning at 9:00 AM, vehicles parked along the posted parade route will be towed and impounded at the owner’s expense.

Celebration’s Grand Entrance Parade will affect traffic Wednesday, June 8

On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, the Sealaska Heritage Institute will be hosting the Grand Entrance Parade for Celebration 2022. The parade will begin at 5:00 PM at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall on Willoughby Avenue.

The parade will proceed along Willoughby Avenue and will end at Centennial Hall by 7:30 PM. Traffic will be affected on Warrior Street, Willoughby Avenue, Whittier Street, Village Street, and West 3rd Street.

There are several parking lots located on Willoughby Avenue that will also be affected, including the State Office Building, Department of Environmental Conservation, 400 Willoughby Avenue Building, and Fireweed Place parking lots. Access to these parking lots will be closed off at approximately 5:00 PM and will reopen at 7:30 PM.
