With Repairs Complete, Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei (Brotherhood Bridge Trail) and Dimond Park Footbridge Reopened
After Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei, also known as Brotherhood Bridge Trail, closed temporarily in September for repairs to the Dimond Park Footbridge, both the trail and bridge reopen to the public today, October 8.
During the 2026 glacial lake outburst flood, land underneath the approach to the Dimond Park footbridge experienced extreme erosion, making the bridge unsafe for public use. In September, most of Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei was closed to allow for construction crews and trucks to travel to the footbridge during reconstruction time.
On Friday, October 2, the Dimond Park Footbridge passed inspection by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation completed additional repairs, including smoothing of the walking surface and temporary fencing around the approach in time for the bridge to reopen today.
