Why I got vaccinated: Felicite Toney

April 9, 2021 – FYI

“It wasn’t until after my dad died in 2017 that I got my first flu vaccination. He contracted the flu, which turned into double pneumonia, and died a week later on a ventilator. Now, I get the flu shot every year to protect those around me. I’m getting the COVID vaccine for the same reason—to protect my family, friends, and community. I may not get sick but I could get someone else sick and that’s not something I’m willing to risk.”

Juneau Public Libraries Technician Felicite Toney last saw her dad in 2015, the year she moved to Juneau. Thank you, Felicite, for sharing your story.
