Team up to swim, bike, and run in Dimond Dash Super Sprint Relay Triathlon in April

February 5, 2025 – News

Are you intrigued by the idea of competing in a multisport race—but intimidated by the length of a full triathlon? Do you enjoy sports more when you’re part of a team? Then this is your chance to give multisport racing a tri!

CBJ Parks & Recreation is partnering with Aukeman Triathlon to host the Dimond Dash Super Sprint Relay Triathlon on Sunday, April 27 at Dimond Park. Participants enter in teams of three, with teammates taking turns to each complete a sprint-length triathlon course—a 150-yard swim, 1.25 mile bike, and 0.5 mile run—for a combined team race time.

Online registration opens Tuesday, February 18 at noon through the Parks & Rec registration catalog (under the Special Events tab). The cost is $60 per 3-person team through March 13, or $75 per team from March 14 onward. Registration is open through April 13 or until full. The event is open to 70 teams.

Keep in mind that registration will include two steps. First, the team captain registers the team and pays the registration fee. Each team member then registers as a participant in the event.

General registration is open to participants ages 12 and up, but young triathletes ages 8-11 may register by participating in the Dimond Dash Training Camp in April.

CBJ Pools & Aukeman Triathlon will also hold an April training camp for aspiring triathletes ages 8-15. The camp will focus on introducing kids to multisport, strengthening existing skills and learning how to safely and efficiently transition between events.

The training camp will meet April 8-24 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m. Online registration opens Tuesday, February 11 at noon through the Parks & Rec registration catalog (under the Special Events tab). The cost is $60 per participant.

Participants should have basic skills in swimming, biking, and running and must be able to pass a 150 yard swim test. Participants are also asked to provide their own flat bar bike (mountain, fitness, or BMX). Loaners may be available—contact [email protected] for more information.

A mandatory gear check and swim test will be held on Thursday, February 13 from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. Those unable to make this date should contact Ellen Johnston at (907) 586-0839 or [email protected] to make alternative arrangements.
