Taku Blvd. closed Sept. 30 – Oct. 7 as part of Aspen Ave. Improvements Project

As part of the City and Borough of Juneau’s Aspen Avenue Improvements Project, CBJ contractor Arete Construction is closing Taku Boulevard at the intersection of Aspen and Taku from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30 through Wednesday, October 7. Motorists can detour down Poplar Avenue to Mendenhall Blvd to Mendenhall Loop Road.

The Aspen Avenue Reconstruction project includes reconstruction of Aspen Avenue from the intersection of Mendenhall Boulevard to the intersection of Taku Boulevard. The work includes storm drain improvements, partial replacement of existing water main, several new water services, fire hydrant replacement and rehabilitation, replacement of existing sanitary sewer main, new sanitary sewer services, new sanitary sewer manholes, asphalt pavement, and valley gutter. The work is expected to be complete around October 15.
