School district offers full-day K-5 childcare. Juneau Assembly CARES funding makes it affordable.
Since the beginning of September, the Juneau School District has been offering full day K-5 RALLY programming at Harborview, Glacier Valley, and Riverbend Elementary schools 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Now, with recent Assembly funding, a portion of the monthly cost to families will be subsidized, making the program more accessible. Learn more and register here.
The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly on September 21 appropriated $600,000 in federal CARES Act funding to offset a portion of the monthly cost to families for RALLY through December 30. After the subsidy, all families with children enrolled in RALLY will pay no more than $515 per child per month. Families who already receive or are eligible for childcare assistance through state, tribal or federal partners can still receive funding. In order to assure that families with higher need have access to the K-5 RALLY program, enrollment priorities shall apply.
Students will be grouped in small cohorts by age and will remain with their cohort at all times. RALLY follows state and local COVID-19 mitigation requirements for providing a safe and comfortable environment for students. Students are required to wear masks and each family is asked to follow screening procedures before entry into RALLY each day.
Students will participate in virtual classroom meetings with their teachers during the RALLY day and will be given time to do classwork and homework. RALLY staff will supervise students during online learning and assist wherever possible. In coordination with the district’s Food Service Program, all students attending RALLY can receive free breakfast and lunch. RALLY also provides an afternoon snack.
