School district families: Take a survey to help assess childcare needs for start of school year

July 13, 2020 – News

The Juneau School District last month introduced Smart Start 2020, a blended learning model for instruction that combines face-to-face instruction with home learning for the start of the 2020-21 school year. To help assess childcare needs for the start of the school year and identify potential ways to address the needs of families, a community committee has developed this survey. One adult per household is requested to respond to the survey by Friday, July 17. Take the survey now here.

The goal of the district’s Smart Start 2020 is to balance the educational needs of students with the health and safety of staff, students, families, and the community during the ongoing pandemic. School schedules will be based on community COVID-19 transmission risk levels of low, medium, or high. At each level, students will spend time learning from home each week.

The community committee that developed the survey is comprised of representatives from Southeast Alaska Association for the Education of Young Children, ROCK Juneau, Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska, Juneau School District, and Juneau Economic Development Council.

Again, the survey ends this Friday, July 17. Take the survey here https://forms.gle/eckRBHiiAYfbNmR97
