Reminder: Deadline to petition property assessment is Monday, May 3
The City and Borough of Juneau Office of the Assessor mailed out 2021 Property Assessment Notices April 2. If you feel that your assessment is lower or higher than the market value of your property, you’re encouraged to file a petition for review. The 30-day period to file one ends on Monday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. Property owners who have errors or omissions regarding their assessed values must advise the Assessor in writing by this deadline. Your property taxes are calculated by multiplying your assessed value with the millage rate, so it is important that your assessed value is accurate. Find the petition for review form here.
You can find your property assessment on a white postcard from the City and Borough of Juneau Office of the Assessor or find it online on the Assessor’s Database.
Once the petition for review form is filled and supporting documents are assembled, please use one of the following methods to submit it:
- email to office@juneau.org
- fax to (907) 586-4520,
- drop off the physical form and supporting documents at one of the CBJ drop boxes located at Super Bear IGA in the valley, Foodland IGA downtown, or at City Hall.
Assessor’s Office staff is available by phone or email to answer questions and to assist you through this process. Please do not hesitate to call 586-5215 or assessor.office@juneau.org.
