Public Service Recognition Week: Ed Quinto

May 5, 2021 – FYI

“Everybody asks, ‘Why don’t you just retire?’ I say, ‘Why? I’m doing a job I love. Why quit?’ I still go on emergency calls and go to fires. Who wouldn’t want to go on calls like that? I like making a difference and as long as my family still supports it, there’s not a problem. As long as my body holds up, I’m OK.”

~Assistant Chief Ed Quinto joined Capital City Fire/Rescue on July 21, 1980. He was 19 at the time and had just graduated from high school where he served 8 months as a fire volunteer. July 21 of this year will mark Ed’s 41 years with the department.

In honor of Public Service Recognition Week, the City and Borough of Juneau will be highlighting CBJ employees.
