Pre-travel testing, including Hawaii-approved testing, now available at the Juneau airport
Capstone Clinic, which is contracted by the State of Alaska to do COVID-19 testing at the Juneau International Airport, is now offering pre-travel testing at the Juneau airport. Capstone’s pre-travel test is Hawaii-approved.
Travelers do not have to pay for the COVID-19 test at the airport. For travelers with health insurance, Capstone will bill insurance companies. For travelers without health insurance, Capstone will bill the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.
Travelers wanting a pre-travel test should go to the Juneau airport 72 hours prior to travel. Before arriving at the airport for the pre-travel test, travelers need to have an account on the Alaska Travel Portal at alaska.covidsecureapp.com, which requires an email address:
- If you already have an account, login at alaska.covidsecureapp.com, go to “My profile,” and enter in insurance information if available, including capturing a photo of the front and back of your insurance card. The portal will have instructions on how to do this.
- If you don’t have an account, go to alaska.covidsecureapp.com and sign up. Enter in insurance information if available, including capturing a photo of the front and back of your insurance card. The portal will have instructions on how to do this.
Pre-travel testing is available at the Juneau airport 8 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. daily. The best time to do a pre-travel test for Hawaii is 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. to ensure your sample is shipped out to the lab the same day of collection.
Pre-travel testing can be done for destinations outside of Alaska as well as within Alaska, though it excludes ferry travel. Pre-travel testing for ferry travel can be arranged by calling the CBJ COVID-19 Screening Hotline at 586-6000. The hotline will not arrange any other pre-travel testing.
