Permanent pickleball lines going in at Cope and Adair-Kennedy parks

July 31, 2019 – FYI, News

The Parks & Recreation Department has removed the temporary pickleball lines at Cope Park and Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park, and permanent lines will go in Thursday and Friday at Cope Park. Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park will be weather permitting next week. Courts will be closed when permanent lines go in.

Each park has two tennis courts. One court will remain for tennis only, while the other will have permanent blended pickleball lines, which adhere to USA Pickleball Association standards. Four pickleball courts can fit in one tennis court. Parks & Recreation plans to paint four pickleball courts with the permanent blended lines at Cope Park and two pickleball courts with the permanent blended lines at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park.

The temporary lines and Parks & Recreation’s current Pickleball Mixer have been successful, drawing more users to Juneau parks. Parks & Recreation plans to offer similar programming in the future.
