
Parks & Recreation’s Free Month of Play Kicks Off July 10
Join City and Borough of Juneau’s Parks & Recreation for Month of Play, a month of in-person and Do-It-Yourself fun taking place Friday, July 10 through Wednesday, August 5. Complete activities, get free admission to Parks & Recreation facilities, and join the in-person events – all for free and with the chance to win a prize!
At each event, you’ll receive an entry ticket for the Month of Play drawing, featuring prizes like pool passes, private rentals at Treadwell Arena and Dimond Park Field House, free youth sports registration, and more. The prize drawing will be held on August 5, following all activities.
This year, Month of Play events and activities include:
- Dive-in Movie: Shark Tale (PG) at Augustus G. Brown Pool, July 10 at 6:30 p.m.
- Free Equipment Rental, July 10 to 31
- Food Drive at the Zach Gordon Youth Center, July 13 to 18
- Goosechase Scavenger Hunt, July 14 to August 2
- Free Field House Day, July 15
- Trucks N’ Stuff at Dimond Park, July 18 from 1 to 5 p.m.
- StoryPath at Overstreet Park, July 20 to August 2
- Free Swim at Dimond Park Aquatic Center, July 25 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m.
- Family Skate at Treadwell Arena, July 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
- Disco Skate at Treadwell Arena, July 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
- Movie in the Park: Zootopia 2 (PG) at Dimond Park Field House, August 1 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- Building with Boxes at the Douglas Library, August 2 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Sensory-friendly alternatives are available for Trucks N’ Stuff and Movie in the Park. At Trucks N’ Stuff, a quiet hour with no horns or sirens will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Dimond Park. The sensory-friendly showing of Zootopia 2 (PG) is at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Dimond Park Field House. During this show, some lights will remain on, and the volume will be lowered with the subtitles on.
