Learn how DEC monitors cruise ship emissions at Sustainability Session Jan. 29

January 22, 2019 – FYI, News

The next Sustainability Session will focus on Juneau’s air quality and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s emissions monitoring. The session is taking place on Tuesday, January 29 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Assembly Chambers. Sustainability Sessions are sponsored by the Juneau Commission on Sustainability, an advisory committee of the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly.

In 2018, DEC received questions and public concerns about cruise ship air emissions in Juneau. At the Sustainability Session, DEC’s Division of Air Quality and Division of Water Quality will address how it monitors cruise ship emissions and talk about its upcoming 2019 plans to monitor the air quality impacts from marine vessels in downtown Juneau. DEC staff will address how to help make its monitoring successful. Community members are encouraged to come with questions and ideas about where monitoring should occur.
