Learn about CBJ efforts to assess underutilized properties at Nov. 15 public meeting
The City and Borough of Juneau is in the process of applying for a federal grant through the Environmental Protection Agency that will be used to assess – and potentially redevelop – select underutilized properties in the community. Learn more about this during a public meeting Monday, November 15 at 10 a.m. Join the meeting online https://juneau.zoom.us/j/85751591791 or call 1-253-215-8782 or 1-669-900-6833 with webinar ID: 857 5159 1791.
CBJ’s Community Development Department (CDD) is working with Stantec Consulting Services – a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, scientists, planners, and funding specialists – to apply for a $500,000 grant through EPA’s Brownfields Program. CDD has identified three areas of Juneau to focus on for the grant application – an area in Downtown Juneau, an area in Lemon Creek, and an area near the airport.
Discussion topics include:
- Efforts to obtain the grant from the EPA
- Impact of identified sites on the livelihood, health and safety of the community
- Plans to assess underutilized areas
- Redevelopment strategy and desired project outcomes
