May 12, 2021 – News

Juneau Pools will resume group swim lessons this summer with the first session happening June 7 – June 17 at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Register here (look under “Juneau Pools”) starting Monday, May 17 at 8:30 a.m. Registration costs $64 per participant.

In order to register for the class, both the participant and guardian need to have accounts on the Parks & Recreation online registration system; in-person or phone enrollment will not be accepted. For assistance logging into your account or creating one, contact Parks & Recreation at 907-586-0839 ext. 4150 or [email protected].

The first summer session, which includes pre-school (ages 3-5) and youth classes (ages 5-12), will follow a summer camp model where participants will attend eight, 30-minute lessons Monday-Thursday for two weeks. Depending on the participant’s swimming ability, pre-school lessons will start at either 3:15 p.m. or 3:55 p.m. and youth classes will start at 4:35 p.m. or 5:15 p.m.

All participants are strongly encouraged to complete a swim test to be placed in the correct level. Swim tests can be completed May 18 – May 26, Monday – Friday, at Dimond Park Aquatic Center from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at no additional cost. Guardians will be notified no later than May 28 of what time slot each participant is enrolled in. If swim tests are not completed by May 26, the participant will automatically be enrolled in either pre-school level one or youth level one, depending on their age.
