Join Docks & Harbors June 24 for Aurora Harbor ribbon-cutting and customer appreciation cook-out

June 21, 2024 – News

CBJ Docks & Harbors will commemorate the successful completion of the Aurora Harbor Phase III project on Monday, June 24, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by the annual Docks & Harbors Customer Appreciation Cook-Out. The Juneau public is cordially invited to both events.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will commence at 3 p.m. and feature guest speakers Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom and Deputy Mayor Michelle Bonnet Hale. Parking is available along the Aurora Harbor frontage road.

Aurora Harbor Phase III, also known as the H Float, provides slips for 60-foot/48-foot vessels and 280 linear feet of transient moorage. This phase also provides electrical service, potable and firefighting water for H Float. This $4.25 million project, which was awarded to Trucano Construction in April 2023, was funded with CBJ Harbor Enterprise funds, 2017 CBJ 1% Sales Tax Initiative funds and $2 million from the ADOT Harbor Facility Grant.

Aurora Harbor Phase IV will complete the rebuilding of the harbor with the installation of two additional main floats (I & J) and the addition of 42-foot slips and with a 117-foot T-float to augment transient moorage at H Float. Nearly $20 million have been invested in improvements to Aurora Harbor in the past decade.
