For senior citizens, renewing sales tax exemption card is easier than ever

Many senior citizens with a City and Borough of Juneau Senior Citizen Sales Tax Exemption card may notice their card is set to expire on December 31. Current cardholders whose cards are expiring have been mailed a renewal notice with an enclosed postcard. To renew, simply fill out the postage-paid postcard and drop it in the mail – that’s it. A new sales tax exemption card will be mailed within 60 days.

For those unable to renew by mail, there’s also a renew-in-person option. Stop by the CBJ Sales Tax Office at 155 S. Seward Street during office hours; a State of Alaska issued Driver’s License or identification card is required.
