Draft Blueprint Downtown Area Plan Open for Public Comment Until August 21

July 29, 2022 – News, Notices for Public Comment

The draft Blueprint Downtown Area Plan, establishing a 20-year vision, goals, priorities and action strategies to help guide future downtown development, is now available for public review. The public comment period will be open from Monday, July 25 to Sunday, August 21. Anyone is welcome to comment, whether you live, work, shop, play or learn in downtown.

The draft plan can be found online at https://juneau.org/community-development/blueprint-downtown. Hard copies are available at all Juneau Public Libraries, the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, or the Community Development Department office in the Marine View building.

The mission of Blueprint Downtown is to create a long-term area plan that reflects current public desires and incorporates past work from relevant existing community plans. That plan was developed through a public process that involved several community meetings and a 13-person Steering Committee appointed by the Planning Commission. The Steering Committee has drawn from business, personal, environmental and cultural perspectives to guide and shape the plan. Details can be found on the Blueprint Downtown Area Plan website.

Following the public comment period, the Steering Committee will meet in August and September to address all public comments received. The plan will then proceed to the Planning Commission and the Juneau Assembly (including associated public hearings) before it is finalized.

Comments are due August 21 and may be submitted in writing by email to [email protected] or in hard copy postmarked by deadline to CBJ Community Development Dept, Attn: Blueprint Downtown, 155 S. Seward Street, Juneau, AK 99801.
