Changes to downtown parking along the waterfront

July 7, 2021 – FYI, News

The first large cruise ship of the season is scheduled to arrive in Juneau on July 23. In anticipation, the City and Borough of Juneau Docks & Harbors Department will be making the following changes to parking along the waterfront:

  • The Marine Park Plaza – also called the Brickyard – including along the curb on the street side, Visitors Center, and Tram lots will be closed to public parking beginning Monday, July 19.
  • The Taku/Twisted Fish lot is transitioning back to paid parking today, July 7.

These closures will allow time for the lots to be cleaned and marked prior to the arrival of the first ship. Docks & Harbors will be closely monitoring the use of the lots by buses and there may be opportunity for sections of one of the lots to remain public parking after the cleaning and marking is complete.

As a reminder, parking in fire lanes, entrances and unmarked areas is never permitted. Please pay attention to posted signage in all locations.
