CBJ reports 15 new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting 15 new residents with COVID-19 in Juneau. Public Health is attributing eight cases to secondary transmission and the rest are under investigation.

Yesterday’s case count update had information on Juneau’s fifth death, which was reported on November 27. The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services says the individual was a male Juneau resident in his 70s who died in November.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 806 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 112 nonresidents. There are 65 active cases in Juneau and 848 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two people with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 519 new people with COVID-19 – 515 are residents and four are nonresidents. The state reported one new death – a female Anchorage resident in her 70s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 121. Alaska has had 31,834 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,257 nonresidents.
