CBJ offers additional guidance to health care providers on how to get PPE

April 30, 2020 – News

As health care providers resume services consistent with State of Alaska Health Mandate 15, the City & Borough of Juneau is offering additional guidance on how these businesses can acquire personal protective equipment (PPE).

According to guidance from the State of Alaska, all health care facilities and providers are expected to source their own PPE, including masks, through normal supply chains. If PPE is not available, then the facility/provider cannot provide services.

Items such as exam gloves, glasses/goggles, gowns, and non-contact thermometers are available through commercial supply chains within 2-3 weeks. There is a global shortage of N95 respirators.

Facilities and providers of urgent/emergent procedures that are unable to source PPE should send an email to the CBJ Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Logistics Section at [email protected]. Requests may be reviewed by medical staff and the EOC will assist providers in sourcing PPE for urgent/emergent procedures. If PPE is not available, the EOC will submit requests to the State Emergency Operations Center for further processing.
