
Capital City Fire/Rescue launches paid apprenticeship program – no experience required
Capital City Fire/Rescue (CCFR) is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new Paid Firefighter Apprenticeship Program, designed to provide a fast-track into a rewarding and secure career in emergency services—no prior experience required.
This unique 10-month program will accept six motivated individuals who will receive paid, hands-on training and multiple certifications that will qualify them for permanent, year-round positions with CCFR. Apprentices will earn while they learn, gaining critical skills without needing to attend college, relocate, or spend years volunteering to get their foot in the door.
“In a time when career stability is harder to come by, emergency services continues to offer excellent job security, benefits, and a deep sense of purpose,” said Rich Etheridge, Chief of Capital City Fire/Rescue. “This program is an investment in our community and in the future of public safety in Juneau.”
Apprentices will receive training and certifications in areas such as structural firefighting, emergency medical response, rescue, and more—all while staying right here in Juneau.
CCFR is looking for applicants who are:
- Community-service minded
- Physically fit
- Of excellent moral character
No emergency services background is required —just a strong work ethic and a commitment to serving the people of Juneau. The program will begin Monday, July 28.
