Beth McEwen to take over Municipal Clerk position
The City and Borough of Juneau is pleased to announce that Beth McEwen will be moving into the Municipal Clerk position after current Municipal Clerk Laurie Sica retires at the end of this week. McEwen has worked at CBJ for 20 years, 18 of which have been in the Clerk’s Office as Deputy Municipal Clerk.
“This is an exciting time to be stepping into the role of Municipal Clerk and I have had the blessed fortune of learning from one of the best, Laurie Sica. Laurie has epitomized public servant leadership at the highest level and while I will miss her greatly, I am excited to pick up the relay baton and carry on her tradition of public service to all, in all we do,” McEwen said.
The Municipal Clerk’s Office is a conduit for information to the public and local government. The Municipal Clerk also serves as Juneau’s Election Official. City Manager Rorie Watt said McEwen is a natural to fill the position. “She’s done an excellent job for us as Deputy Clerk and I have complete trust in her ability to move up to the Municipal Clerk role with ease and skill,” he said.
The Deputy Clerk position will be filled by Diane (Di) Cathcart, who’s previously worked for CBJ in Parks & Recreation and as an Executive Assistant in the City Manager’s Office.
