CBJ reports five COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting five new residents with COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individuals acquired the virus is under investigation. CBJ’s numbers – on daily case count and cumulative case counts – differ from the Alaska Health and Social Services dashboard numbers due to more timely reporting. CBJ is in regular contact with the Public Health officials in Juneau, and CBJ’s numbers are based on information received directly from them.

The cluster associated with a small church in Juneau is still at 13 cases – four cases are active and nine have recovered.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 860 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 113 nonresidents. There are 56 active cases in Juneau and 912 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 626 new people with COVID-19 – 610 are residents and 16 are nonresidents. The state reports five additional deaths – two male Anchorage residents in their 70s, a male Anchorage resident in his 60s, a male Fairbanks resident in his 80s, and a female Anchorage resident in her 80s – bringing the total number of resident deaths to 154.

Alaska has had 37,962 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,383 nonresidents.
