Are you interested in getting involved in your community? Are you a big picture thinker? Are you good at making decisions?
The CBJ recruitment for planning commission is open and applications are being accepted—do you have the perspective and energy we need?
The planning commission is charged with making land use decisions on major development projects, subdivisions, city and state projects; and recommending adoption of land use code regulations, zoning changes, and area plans.
We seek to create a well-balanced commission that represents the community of Juneau. Relevant experience, such as land use, construction, real estate and finance, historic and cultural resources, engineering and architecture, while desirable, are not a requirement. We are seeking thoughtful, big-picture thinking, committed people with strong reading comprehension and reasoning skills who are interested in learning more about public process and supporting Juneau’s growth in a strategic manner.
The commission is comprised of nine members, serving three-year terms with a maximum of nine years. Meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 P.M (during the COVID-19 pandemic meetings are held virtually on Zoom).
