Juneau-Douglas City Museum to participate in national leadership program

The Juneau-Douglas City Museum has been selected by American Alliance for Museums (AAM) to participate in the Museum Social Impact in Practice (MSIIP) cohort. MSIIP is an initiative led by AAM and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Through this program Juneau-Douglas City Museum staff will learn how to effectively leverage social impact data collected over the next few years.

After a competitive application process, forty museums from 25 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico were selected to participate in the MSIIP program. This group of institutions represents the diversity of America’s museums, from small, regional art museums and historic houses to larger institutions. It includes children’s museums, science centers, historic houses, anthropology museums, university museums, zoos, visitors’ centers, presidential libraries, and natural history museums. As a member of this cohort, the Juneau-Douglas City Museum will engage in a study to measure and analyze the museum’s social and community impact.

Over the next three years, the Juneau-Douglas City Museum will recruit 100 visitors/participants for the study and track their visits to the museum. The visitors/participants may visit up to three times for free and will receive an incentive to participate in the survey developed by the museum.

For more information about the MSIIP program, visit the American Alliance of Museums website.

CBJ MUNICIPAL ELECTION UNOFFICIAL RESULTS UPDATED 10/4/2024

The CBJ Election Staff are continuing to process and count ballots for the October 1 Regular Municipal Election. The preliminary results from election night are now updated with all those that have been reviewed, approved, and scanned as of Friday, October 4. Those results are posted on the CBJ Elections webpage at https://juneau.org/clerk/elections.

There are over 1,000 ballots remaining to be reviewed and processed that were received on Election Day or in the mail. The CBJ Elections team will continue to receive ballots via USPS. Ballot review and processing will continue next week and the next set of unofficial updated results to be published Friday, October 11.

Part of the ballot review process includes sending “Cure Letters” to voters informing them of additional steps needed before their ballots can be counted. This happens for a number of reasons such as a missing signature, missing personal identifier, no reference signature on file etc. CBJ voters are asked to check their mail and respond to any cure letters right away so their ballots may be forwarded for additional review and counting, if eligible.

The Canvass Review Board will meet October 14 & 15 to review and certify the election. The official/final results will be posted online once the Canvass Review Board and Election Official certify the election on October 15. Certification may be delayed by up to 3 days on a case-by-case basis as may be required.

Full election details are online at https://juneau.org/clerk/elections. Anyone with questions about this election can call the Ballot Processing Center at 907-586-5278, option 4 between 9am-4pm Monday through Friday.
