New limited hours for Jackie Renninger Park (Pipeline Skate Park)

In order to address safety concerns stemming from a sharp increase in vandalism and drug paraphernalia litter on park grounds, Jackie Renninger Park (Pipeline Skate Park) will be open for reduced hours until further notice.

Starting immediately, the park will be open from 3:30 – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekends. All gates and facilities will be closed outside these hours of operation. Park staff and JPD will also be conducting extra patrols in the park.

We hope to return to normal hours as soon as sanitation and safety for park users is improved.

Juneau Community Foundation’s Mendenhall Flood Relief Fund announces relief assistance applications accepted through December 31

The Juneau Community Foundation is pleased to announce that flood relief assistance is now available for those who were negatively impacted by the glacial outburst that occurred this past summer.

Thanks to generous support for the Mendenhall River Flood Response Fund from the local community and from around the state, the Foundation has received $28,300. Working with the Juneau Economic Development Council’s nonprofit arm, the Alaska Development Corporation, these funds will be used to provide limited assistance to anyone who experienced a major loss due to the flooding.

The Foundation has developed a simple application process for those affected. Funding is limited and the amount received by each household will be based on how many applications are received.

“We are happy to be collaborating with JEDC to help neighbors and community members who experienced a major loss from the jökulhlaup flooding that occurred,” said Amy Skilbred, Executive Director of the Juneau Community Foundation.

Applications can be found at www.juneaucf.org and are due by 5 pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Any questions can be directed to [email protected] or (907) 523-5450.
