Juneau Pools To Offer Lifeguard Class January 3 – 6

Parks and Recreation Juneau Pools will offer a lifeguarding class on January 3 – 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily at Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Participants who successfully complete the class will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, valid for two years. Registration opens December 9 and closes on December 22. Class fees are $250 for general participants but free for those who intend to use their lifeguard certification to work for Juneau Pools. The class is open to a maximum of 10 people.

Prerequisites: Complete the pre-course prior to the first day of class which includes a 300-yard swim, brick retrieval from 10 feet, and treading water for 2 minutes. Must be 15 years old by the last day of class.

Dimond Park Aquatic Center to Cap Weekend Open Swims Beginning October 22

Beginning Saturday, October 22, weekend open swims at Dimond Park Aquatic Center will be limited to 80 patrons at a time for the foreseeable future.

Like many organizations, Juneau Pools is facing ongoing staffing shortages; we hope to return to previous capacity when staffing has improved. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Augustus Brown Swimming Pool Closed September 22 7:30 AM – 2 PM

The Augustus Brown Swimming Pool will be closed Thursday, September 22, from 7:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to allow for staff to attend job training. We apologize for any inconvenience this interruption of service may have on the community.
