Reminder: Water & Sewer Utility Rates Increased July 1

This is a reminder that utility rates increased effective July 1. The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly, in August of 2019, approved increases to both the water and sewer utility rates. The 2% rate increase will go into effect July 1. Find the new rates on the CBJ Utilities Division’s Current Utility Rates page.

Please expect these changes to your upcoming billing statements. All Bill-Pay customers will need to update their payment amount through their banking institution in order to stay current. There will be an additional 2% increase in July 2024.

These increases help with inflationary cost increases. Revenue generated goes toward costs for operating and maintaining major water and wastewater infrastructure systems, debt financing from Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) loans, and capital projects directed at aging infrastructure or regulatory compliance. North Douglas Water Shutoff Scheduled for July 18

The CBJ North Douglas water main will be shut off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, while it is relocated due to construction on North Douglas Highway. The shutoff will affect customers north of Wee Burn Drive in Bonnie Brae.

Customers are advised to take proper precautions (as noted in most owner manuals) to prevent damage to their appliances and/or water heating systems.

The upcoming Utility Advisory Board (UAB) meeting on Thursday, July 13, has been cancelled. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 10 at 5:15 p.m. via Zoom webinar or in person at the Water Utility Shop (2520 Barrett Ave.).

Please be aware that there will be a utility rate increase effective July 1. The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly, in August of 2019, approved increases to both the water and sewer utility rates. The 2% rate increase will go into effect July 1. Find the new rates on the CBJ Utilities Division’s Current Utility Rates page.
