CBJ reports 16 COVID-19 cases in Juneau Dec. 12-14

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting 16 new individuals with COVID-19 in Juneau – 14 are residents and two are nonresidents. These cases came in December 12-14. Public Health is attributing three resident cases to community spread, three to secondary transmission, one to out-of-state travel, and the rest are under investigation. The two nonresidents are visitors to Juneau.

One of the secondary cases is part of the cluster associated with a small church in Juneau, which is now at 14 cases – four cases are active and 10 have recovered.

Two cases previously reported as Juneau residents have been removed – one was an individual from another Alaska community; the second case was inaccurately reported as positive.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 878 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March and 115 nonresidents. There are 72 active cases in Juneau and 916 individuals have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There are currently two individuals with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services today reports 427 new people with COVID-19 – 420 are residents and seven are nonresidents. Alaska has had 40,160 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,413 nonresidents.
