Discussion: | The National Weather Service Forecasts- TODAY...SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS IN THE MORNING SOUTH OF TAKU TONIGHT...SNOW. SNOW ACCUMULATION 2 TO 4 INCHES. LOWS 23 TO 29. EAST WIND 10 MPH. TUESDAY...SNOW AND RAIN IN THE AFTERNOON. SNOW ACCUMULATION 1 TO 2 INCHES. HIGHS AROUND 34. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 MPH. Temperatures and winds around the region continue to remain cool and calm. Although we did see a few hours of 20+ winds on the Mt Roberts Tram Summit in general winds have been fairly calm around the region staying below 15mph. We have not had any significant precipitation in the last 2 days and only received a few inches previous to that. This new snow is settling and bonding well for the most part to the old snow surface. The bigger question still remains in the lower windslab under this new snow. For the most part it is building strength and improving in stability. Be cautiuos as in areas there still may be the ability to trigger this deeper weak layer. Avalanche danger is LOW today with not much wind and not much precip while these cool temps stay in place. Natural avalanches very unlikely. Human triggered avalanches unlikely and yet my remain possible in isolated locations. As we start to pickup new snow tonight into tomorrow avalanche danger will rise once again but the precip volumes do not appear to be great enough to raise a great deal of concern at this time.
