Webinar shares how to reduce carbon emissions through home energy improvements

March 21, 2022 – FYI

The Juneau Commission on Sustainability and AARP Alaska present “Home Green Home: Reducing the Carbon Footprint of Buildings While Saving Money.” The webinar is happening Wednesday, March 23  at 6 – 7:30 p.m. and will broadcast via Zoom and AARP Alaska’s Facebook page. For Zoom, register for the webinar here.

Webinar speakers will share practical tips for improving the energy efficiency of buildings and demonstrate that home heating can be used as a climate change solution. Juneau residents, such as State Senator Jesse Kiehl, will discuss how they accomplished home energy improvements. The webinar will also feature guest speakers from Alaska Heat Smart and Renewable Energy Alaska Project.

“Nearly 30% of Juneau’s greenhouse gas emissions come from heating buildings,” Juneau Commission on Sustainability Energy Chair Steve Behnke says. “Not only can families reduce their carbon footprints through home energy improvements, they can save money at the same time. This is especially true today, with such volatility in oil prices.”

This webinar session is the second in a five-part series, “Reducing Our Carbon Footprint.” The series runs every other Wednesday through May 4.
