Walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations available at Juneau airport every day

June 1, 2021 – News

Anyone ages 12 and up can now walk in and get a COVID-19 vaccination at the Juneau International Airport seven days a week from 12:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This free vaccination program, administered by Capstone Clinic through the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), is open to travelers and community members.

Capstone is currently offering the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines at the airport near the baggage claim area. Pfizer is authorized for ages 12 and up; Johnson & Johnson for ages 18 and up. Anyone getting a vaccination or driving someone to get a vaccination can park in the airport’s Short-Term parking lot and receive a parking voucher. Youth ages 12-17 must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

Again, vaccinations at the airport are available on a walk-in basis; you can also make an appointment at alaska.covidsecureapp.com. If you don’t already have an existing account on alaska.covidsecureapp.com, sign up for one to receive an airport vaccination.

To request vaccination services for travel groups larger than 25 individuals, email [email protected] at least one week in advance of arrival to coordinate. Groups of travelers arriving together are encouraged to make appointments through alaska.covidsecureapp.com

COVID-19 testing

DHSS continues to offer COVID-19 testing for travelers through Capstone Clinic at the Juneau airport, now located on the upper level across from TSA. PCR testing is available every day from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The CDC continues to require international travelers, including fully vaccinated U.S. citizens returning home, be tested within three days prior to their return flight home and again 3-5 days after travel along with self-monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms. In addition, the City and Borough of Juneau encourages all arriving travelers who are not fully vaccinated to get a COVID-19 test and to avoid indoor public areas or crowded settings until results are back.

Testing at the airport is free for any traveler arriving to Juneau. Pre-travel testing will be billed to insurance when applicable. Results are available in 1-3 days.

Masks required at Juneau airport

Regardless of vaccination status, everyone must wear a mask at the Juneau International Airport per the federal mask mandate.
