Volunteers needed for April 12 Search & Rescue exercise

CBJ Emergency Programs Division is looking for 40 enthusiastic volunteers to help with a Search & Rescue Exercise Friday, April 12 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone, including youth with adult supervision, is welcome. There are opportunities for both indoor and outdoor locations, though more outdoor volunteers are needed.

Volunteers will be staged and hiding in several different areas around Juneau. A Search and Rescue responder and possibly a dog will be attempting to locate and rescue you. Before the exercise begins you will be instructed about the role you are being asked to play. It could include mocking an injury or being unconscious.

All volunteers should dress warmly and bring their own drinking water for personal hydration. Outdoor volunteers should dress for that day’s weather conditions and being outdoors for several hours.

Date: Friday, April 12
Hours: 7 am to 3 pm
Muster Location: Hagevig Regional Fire Training Center (206 Sherwood Lane)
