School meal program adds new afternoon/evening pickup time

The Juneau School District school meal program has added a new pickup time after a recent survey showed demand for it. Students and families now have the option to pick up meals at Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The district program offers free breakfast and lunch meals to all children and youth in Juneau ages 18 and under regardless of school meal eligibility.

Here are all pickup times and locations:

• All schools – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday
• Gruening and Cedar Park – 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (look for the school bus in the parking lot)
• Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School – 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday

Friday meal pickup includes meals for the weekend. Meals will be served throughout the upcoming holidays and breaks (on specific days). The district will soon release a schedule of multiple meal pickup days.
