SBA approves low-interest disaster loans for Juneau residents

October 20, 2023 – News

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved several federal low-interest disaster loans for Juneau residents following the August Mendenhall River glacial outburst flood. As of October 20, seven loans totaling $406,100 have been approved and a number of additional applications are underway.

SBA’s in-person Disaster Loan Outreach Center will be open at Dimond Park Aquatic Center (3045 Dimond Park Loop) through October 24. Applicants have four more days to visit the center to ask questions about how a disaster loan can help them and receive one-on-one assistance in completing applications.

The center is open the following hours:

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The center will close on Tuesday, October 24, at 6 p.m.

The deadline to complete applications for physical losses is December 5, 2023. Those who are unable to apply in person with SBA staff at the center can apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at disasterloanassistance.sba.gov.
