Sandbags Available at Dimond Park on August 4 and 6 

UPDATE (AUGUST 5): The sandbag-filling machine is down and needing repairs. Sandbags will be hand-filled until we are able to make repairs.

As this year’s glacial lake outburst flood approaches, the City and Borough of Juneau and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be filling and handing out free sandbags on Tuesday, August 4 and Thursday, August 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. in front of the Dimond Park Field House. If Suicide Basin has not yet released, the regular weekly sandbag distribution event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 8. Residents need only to arrive at Dimond Park where personnel and volunteers will load vehicles with prefilled sandbags.
