Registration Opens for April 2026 Juneau Pools Lifeguard Training Course

City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) Parks and Recreation is offering a lifeguard course in April 2026 to earn an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, valid for two years. Registration is open at noon today, March 27 until 8 a.m. on Friday, April 10. Class fees are $250 for general participants but free for those who apply for employment as a Juneau Pools lifeguard during the course. The class is open to a maximum of 10 people. 

 Register online via the CBJ Parks and Recreation registration catalog. Class sessions will take place Thursday, April 16 through Sunday, April 19 at Dimond Park Aquatic Center. 

 Prerequisites: Complete a pre-course session in the pool before the course begins. The pre-course includes a 200-yard swim, brick retrieval from 10 feet, and treading water for 2 minutes. Contact Pool Supervisor Seth Cayce at [email protected] to set up a time for the pre-course. Prerequisites must be completed by the end of the day on April 10. Participants must be 15 years old by the last day of class.
